Students meet cricket legends

James, Josh, Owen, and James got to meet the players after the game between Oxton Cricket Club and The Lashings XI who tour the country.

The Lashings squad are players who have previously played Test Match, One Day International and County Cricket and have some legendary names on their side.

The students got photographs and autographs with the ex-stars including Gordon Greenidge (West Indies), Herschelle Gibbs (South Africa), ex England players Phillip Defreitas, Chris Schofield, Devon Malcolm, Graham Onions and many more.

Josh said: “Wow, I can’t believe I managed to get everybody’s autograph in the team.” James added: “We got the best view of the ground and were able to talk to the players which was great.”

The students were amazed at how fast the bowlers could bowl and how far and hard the batsman hit the ball. The four of them were selected to attend the event after participating in a cricket tournament for the first time a few weeks ago, where they represented The Birkenhead Park School.
