Staff decorate their doors for NSPCC Number Day

As the NSPCC Number Day is fast approaching on Friday 7^th February, staff at The Birkenhead Park School have decorated their doors with number displays.

The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) have held this maths-inspired day for the last 20 years, encouraging schools to take part in a range of activities centred around numeracy and in the process have raised nearly £2 million to protect children from harm. ​

The displays are in numerical order and celebrate facts around numbers and the results look fantastic.

The displays have been done to encourage the students to think about numbers differently. They include facts, root words, the number in different languages and lots of images that represent the number in different ways.

Head of Mathematics, Miss Clarke, said: “This is the first time that The Birkenhead Park School has taken part in Number Day and the students are really excited about the upcoming events. We have treasure hunts, escape rooms and form time activities to raise the profile of numeracy across the school. As a school, we hugely value the importance of numeracy and it has been fantastic to see all staff contributing. Having a secure understanding of numbers means that our students can access the full depth of our ambition curriculum and enjoy tackling problems both in Maths and across many other subjects.”
