Katie, Year 7, read a fantastic 2,618,205 words from September 2016 to April 2017.

She was presented with her certificate last week and a £10 gift voucher to be used at the school’s book fair. The book fair has been on from 24^th April to 5^th May, with students having the opportunity to purchase their favourite titles during break and after school, with all the money being put back into the library.

To win her award, Katie had to read a book and then take a quiz on that story. The Accelerated Reader programme then added up the number of words read to give a total for each student.

Head of English, Mrs Franklin, said: “Katie is very caring, hard-working and an avid reader. She has read a massive number of words for a Year 7, and both of our school librarians commented on how she is never seen without a book! She reads a wide variety of literature-we are very proud of her.”
