A spirit of competition, camaraderie, and celebration filled the air as Year 7 and 8 students from The Birkenhead Park School took to the fields for their annual Sports Day.

Held in the historic and scenic grounds of Birkenhead Park, the event brought together students, staff, and families for a full day of athletic excitement. From sprints and relays to long jump and discus, every race and event was packed with energy and determination as pupils showcased their sporting talents.

The morning kicked off with track events, including the ever-popular 100m and 200m sprints, which drew loud cheers from the side-lines. Pupils demonstrated not just speed but incredible perseverance and sportsmanship throughout. Field events followed, where students impressed with their skill in shot put, standing jump, and long-distance throws.

Throughout the day, house pride was on full display, with students proudly representing their respective teams. Points were earned not just for podium finishes, but for teamwork, encouragement, and effort, embodying the school’s core values of positivity, ambition, resilience, and thoughtfulness.

PE staff praised the efforts of all involved. “We couldn’t be prouder of how our Year 7 and 8 students competed today,” said Mrs Critchlow, Head of PE. “Their enthusiasm and team spirit made the event truly special. We saw some fantastic performances and, more importantly, lots of support and encouragement between students.”

Special thanks were given to the student sports leaders and staff volunteers who helped run the events smoothly, as well as Mr Brown for whom it was his last Sports Day at BPS. Winning the staff 100m race was the icing on the cake!

The day closed with a celebratory certificate ceremony. It was a fitting end to a fantastic day that highlighted the importance of sport in building confidence, teamwork, and lifelong memories.
