A fond farewell to our wonderful Year 11 students
20 August 2020
Today we have welcomed our wonderful Year 11 students back to school to collect their GCSE results. We are incredibly proud of this year group – they have shown extraordinary courage and resilience in exceptional circumstances and the results they have achieved are a reflection of the hard work they have all put in over the last five years. To celebrate their achievements and hard work, we were delighted to give each of them a goody bag and an ice-cream from the visiting ice cream van!
While we are very sad to see Year 11 students leave, we are very excited about them starting the next chapter of their lives. Nearly fifty students are going to Birkenhead Sixth Form College where they will be studying new subjects such as Psychology and Law, as they continue to pursue their career ambitions to become doctors, scientists & website designers. Another group of students leave us to go to Wirral Met where they will be starting courses such as Engineering and Motor Vehicle studies and Public Services from September.
In their five years at The Birkenhead Park School, they have transformed into young adults with exciting futures ahead of them. There have been lots of highlights during their time at the school. Notable highlights include being one of the first year groups to settle into the Year 7 base, forming the new leadership system, representing the school at Liverpool University through the STEM group and really coming together as a close family by the end of their school journey.
Reflecting on their time at the school, Helen Johnson, Headteacher, said: “We are so proud of the Class of 2020 for all that they have achieved during their time with us. It has been a privilege to watch them grow into such wonderful young people and they go with our very best wishes for the future. “
Deputy Headteacher, Peter Mee added: “They have been an outstanding year group and have taken the many challenges presented to them in their stride. They have certainly upheld the school’s values of Positivity, Ambition, Resilience and Thoughtfulness. I have no doubt that they will be successful in whatever they decide to do in the future.”
We wish all our year 11 students a very happy and successful future – it’s been a privilege to get to know you and please keep in touch.
